Try contacting N55. - And good luck with the project.Hammershøjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14806674747346811973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6673581014660421829.post-36969802575116176922013-03-09T05:37:52.881+01:002013-03-09T05:37:52.881+01:00I have been looking into building the xyz spacefra...I have been looking into building the xyz spaceframe single.... But I stopped sourcing parts the moment I realized I didn't know how the crankbox was fully assembled with bottom bracket. Does anyone know What bottom bracket is suggested given the width is about 70mm... How does it fasten?
Johnson Matthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03622929592947564187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6673581014660421829.post-83917418187602785642012-03-28T21:31:10.137+02:002012-03-28T21:31:10.137+02:00We've ended up not going with an existing bike...We've ended up not going with an existing bike frame. It had to be explored, but seemed problematic when we got to the detailing. Your favourite is certainly cleaner, but it would probably break if you but much weight on it.Hammershøjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14806674747346811973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6673581014660421829.post-30466676489182011722012-03-28T20:58:44.912+02:002012-03-28T20:58:44.912+02:00Hi Robert, sorry for the late reply. The construction appears simpler. Using an existing bike would be easier in that it would be less to build but, with slight variability in bicycles, it may make it tough for the home builder to adapt the plans to their bike. Besides, what about building the bike for the fun of building the bike?Chuck McIntyrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08183173130214874988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6673581014660421829.post-20079196956427539932012-01-31T07:27:16.227+01:002012-01-31T07:27:16.227+01:00I've been following your project for a while. ...I've been following your project for a while. Yes its...Hi petterwr

Thank you for your comment!

Yes its interesting with bamboo as a choice of material, but what we seek is also the ability to change elements of the bike after completion. Say for instance that you find the cargo space to small, then you can reconfigure your bike by replacing particular elements of your bike. And this is made easy with the construction we chose.
Making it out of bamboo is a nice idea, but it would be hard to make the joints and the flexibility might be lost here. I think it has to be made out some strong glue and string. Bolts might weaken the strength of the bamboo.

The only bamboo bicycle that i know of is this one:
flaviodeslandes
Bamboo Funky
Take a look under his 'bamboo' section, there's some information and history about the bamboo material and use.

A little outside topic, but about the bamboo. I've been using bamboo for another construction, which is a Walklet (Courtesy of Rebar Group, SF) - take a look here if you are interested:
Walklet of bamboo

And again, we appreciate your comment!

SørenAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00902537228910925588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6673581014660421829.post-56082640192768647822012-01-24T20:08:16.897+01:002012-01-24T20:08:16.897+01:00Looks very interestin :)
